Just in time to give thanks to some hip-hop legends, our musical collaborative project with Mick Boogie and Terry Urban releases today! LE DA SOUL: 20 years of De La Soul!
Inspired by 20 years of greatness from hip-hop’s most consistent group, De La Soul, this project unites the cream of the crop in hiphop… including old school legends (Phife, Camp Lo and Skillz), current hitmakers (Talib Kweli and Kardinal Offishall) and future stars (U-N-I, Tanya Morgan and Tabi Bonney) to remake their favorite De La classics.
Originally stemming from Mick Boogie’s popular VH1 Honor Roll mixtape last year, we worked with our favorite artists and producers to create an astounding 20 remakes! One for every year of De La history!
Lemar And Dauley, Mick, Terry and The Press Play Show would like to thank and salute Pos, Dave and Mase for 20 years of making history!

When I was approached about doing this song, I was definitely excited by the opportunity, and then something kinda odd happened. I went to LA to work with my Producer Woody who recently moved back to Cali, and ended up staying in a newly renovated loft building in Downtown Los Angeles very much like The Dante. I started to feel like I was already in the show, being that I was staying in a building that was kinda odd itself and so I wrote the song as if I was just another resident in The Dante. As I watched the episodes and got into the storyline, it made it easier and easier to imagine myself as a part of the show. I thought to myself “I really want to be a part of this” and I’m glad that the song has been as well received as it has so far. New Years Eve isn’t that far away…let’s see if they decide to invite me to New Years Eve at The Dante…
