Big shouts to my dude J. Hatch for reaching out and asking me to headline his upcoming “Get Your Buzz Up” showcase at Element this upcoming Tuesday. If you’re around come check it out, we’re definitely gonna tear it down as always
ESSO & Woody in the Studio [VIDEO]
While out in LA working on The Anti-Socialite Woody and I filmed a piece for a TV pilot which is still in the works. The session that they filmed for the pilot ended up being the session that we recorded “Growing Pains” in.

BRM Presents “Not Without A Fight”
In honor of Hip-Hop Appreciation Week, and in benefit of our struggling magazine, BRM is throwing just a few, pretty ridiculous hip-hop shows this week.
All shows are $10 and will take place at Santos Party House in New York City. If you are in the area, please come out in support. Flyers for the shows are below. Feel free to spread the word. (via Beyond Race Magazine)
Future So Bright x Woody [Alternate Version]
While I was in LA working on the songs of The Anti-Socialite that I recorded with Woody, we recorded an alternate version of “Future So Bright” It didn’t end up being the version that we used for the project, but we thought it was still dope enough to be heard. It has my original second verse on there and a verse from Woody also…check it out

Big shouts to Pete Verry and The Lifestyle Connoisseur
ESSO – The Anti-Socialite (mixtape)
There’s so much I can say about this project and what it means to me. So much sleep I need to get back, so many songs that didn’t make it, so many things I learned along the way. But for right now, I really just want to let the music talk and get ready to tear it down tonight at the release party…so those words are gonna have to wait for another day. But that day will come…

#TheAnti-Socialite’s Thank You’s
One of the things that I just realized is that in the digital age where artwork is only 2 panels and most people never really see anything other than the front cover in iTunes, the are of the Thank You has been completely neglected. I wanted to take a few seconds here to thank the people that helped to make this project happen.
The Y&I Family:
What can I say? I’m sure there were times that you’ve hated me throughout this (especially in the past week or so) but y’all are the catalyst to everything I do. Saint Paul (who I never call Saint Paul) you’ve seen this shit from the absolute beginning…long way from the Platinum Lounge eh? Tory & Anabelle, I know I’ve prolly stressed y’all the most and vice versa, but isn’t that our jobs? Renny, Woody & NvMe, this project is as much each of yours as it is mine. Thank’s for stretching the canvases for me to paint on. Chase, 3 words: Budweiser 24 Pack.
To the person that I told that I wanted to write the new project in her apartment, thank you for not looking at me like I was crazy when I said that, despite however crazy even I acknowledge that must have sounded. And thanks for admiring my Usain Bolt (run on) sentences.
To everybody that’s kept me sane since June 25th, 2009 from the bottom of my heart, Thank You.
To Shake, let this serve as a public apology for the way that the cover situation was handled. You’ve had my back since none of your audience even really knew who I was. We’re supposed to let the commenters on 2DBz hate me, they don’t need any help haha!
To everyone that I let hear The Anti-Socialite before today: I’m glad your reactions were what they were when you heard it because I dont know what I would have done with myself if they weren’t what they were.
To the person whose words led to the title (ironically you were the first person to hear the idea), I told you I was gonna turn this shit into something epic!
To Imagination, Creativity, Faith, Critical Thinking and Intelligence: Thanks for never leaving me to defend myself alone.
#TheAntiSocialite’s Guide to New York [Directed by Puma]
You can call it a trailer, you can call it a commercial, you can call it whatever you want. I call it a movie. Inspired by one of the greatest pieces of New York cinema ever created (below), The Anti-Socialite’s Guide to New York is your welcome back to the Empire State of Mind. It’s not a welcome back in the “lets bring New York back” sense, but more of a welcome back for those of you who may have forgotten for a second why New York holds the place that it does in the eyes of the rest of the world. Shot by Puma, Written and Narrated by me…
The Anti-Socialite drops tomorrow (Wednesday May 5th) if you’re in the city make sure you come through for the Release Party and celebrate with the Y&I family and extended family.
ESSO x The Boondocks???
I think it’s pretty obvious that The Anti-Socialite is way more Huey than Riley. Definitely way more Huey than Thugnificent. And definitely not for the Stinkmeaners of the world. So when my dude DJ Dub Floyd hit me up (after I almost begged him to be on the second Hip Hop Docktrine) I was more than fucking thrilled to be a part of the official mixtape for the 3rd and final season of the critically acclaimed Adult Swim powered The Boondocks.
Am I gonna be in an episode? Probably not, but hey who knows…Aaron McGruder if you’re reading this and there’s room for Huey to have a smarter than he looks friend that brings him out of retirement as a “domestic terrorist” I think you have a more than willing voice in me…hahahaha
