I’m sure the footage is gonna be popping up somewhere soon but until then here are a few of the flicks from last night courtesy of PaperMag.com

I’ve never been an animated .gif before that sh&* cray!!!

ESSO – Tapewreck [MP3] w/Lyrics

ESSO – Tapewreck [MP3] via DJBooth.net | MediaFire

We all hit walls, get frustrated and question ourselves. Anyone that says that they doesn’t is lying to you. I wrote this song when I was going through one of those periods. Reality provides us with the greatest subject matter. This song is kind of my own commentary on myself in a way, I’m talking to myself more than I’m really talking to anyone else. Cheers to thinking out loud…

ESSO – Fuck It All (produced by Mike Mef) [Trailer]

I met Mike Mef as a result of his “The Rhythm of My Life” documentary that was in the UrbanWorld Film Festival a couple of weeks back. A producer from half a world away (Gabon, Central Africa), in New York with a hunger and drive to make great music. We went into the studio last week and recorded “Fuck It All” one of the most honest songs that I’ve ever written. No bullshit, no smoke and mirrors, nothing but exactly how I feel and was feeling at the moment when I wrote it. Full CDQ & Video to follow shortly.

Generation Next First Anniversary @ Southpaw

This past Wednesday, I hit the stage at Southpaw in BK as a part of the Generation Next 1 Year Anniversary show hosted by Hot97′s own Peter Rosenberg. The show was pretty ill all around, thanks to sets by Siya, The Kid Daytona, Emilio Rojas and more. I brought out a couple of records that I’ve never performed before (Death Do Us [unreleased] and Party Til We Die [#yandilife]) and the crowd rocked with me throughout the whole set.

Shouts to everyone from the Y&I Family that was in attendance (Renny, Tory, Tiffany & Promo) as well as the whole Generation Next team & especially Mic Sean & DJ Quiz. Video of the show will be coming soon courtesy of Generation Next

RubyHornet’s CS:ATX Documentary Part II

This had to be one of the more fun experiences that I’ve had in Austin in the 3 years that I’ve been going down for SXSW. Last year, RubyHornet.com (the good folks that brought you the #yandilife mixtape) rented a mansion in Austin and had all of their favorite artists come through and work on songs together. The result was an album full of collabs that might not otherwise happen since we’re all from different places around the country.

My session was dope, I went in there expecting to work on one track (“For No One” feat. Scheme) and right as I was about to leave, the LA homies El Prez, Shawn Chrystopher and D Nez walked in and told me they wanted me to lay something for the track they were working on (“This Is the Life”). I ended up with 2 records making the final cut of the album, which is a hell of a feeling. It’s always a good feeling to be included on projects like this, but it feels even better to be showcased on it. Shouts to Tony Shane on the Lenscraft…he’s the same Director that shot the “Wasting Another Day” video (which we shot during this past SXSW in Austin as well).

The documentary comes with the limited edition hard copy of the LP that we released with Decon, and we will now be presenting it online in four installments. Check out part 2 documenting Closed Sessions with Fashawn, Buff1, Scheme, Esso, Shawn Chrystopher, El Prez, Tony Baines, and more.

ESSO x DopeFiles.com [Interview & Freestyle]

Big shouts to Latasha and Dopefiles.com for coming by the studio and chopping it up for a while. I’m not gonna lie, that whole “Off The Record” segment was actually supposed to be off the record, but fuck it…it’s my opinion, and you dont have to agree. The Freestyle is a freestyle in the purest definition of the word, meaning it’s whatever came to mind at that particular moment over the beat. #yandilife

DJ Deadeye feat. ESSO, Geechi Suede, Steele, Ali Vegas & Trife Diesel – My Favorite Town [MP3]

Here’s a new record that I’m featured on from DJ Deadeye’s album Substance Abuse that’s out right now on iTunes. It’s a hell of a lineup including Geechi Suede (Camp Lo), Steele (Smiff & Wessun/CocoaBrovaz), Ali Vegas & Trife Diesel (Ghostface affiliate). Make sure you go ahead and cop that album too

boardrooming w/@TheSourceMag & #yandilife + #sxsw

Aight I’ma get back to talking on here a little bit more. Today was a pretty damn good day. I’ve been recovering a little from coming back from 80 degree days in Austin to this bullshit weather that New York is blessing us with. Today I headed over to The Source’s offices downtown to meet the new staff and catch them up on what I’ve been working on. Funny thing is I knew a lot of their staff from other places that they had written over the years. They definitely welcomed the #yandilife with open arms and as an Unsigned Hype alumni I have to admit it felt pretty fuckin good. Now me and Puma are about to break that 7D in a little bit more for y’all these next few weeks so you can really see what this #yandilife of ours really looks like. And I’ve been kicking the idea of some remixes around lately too, so know that it’s only getting started. We’re about to open our doors to you, all we ask is your ears in return. Til then, hit the ump to check out my random blackberry photography from Austin this year as well…

TWV presents: the tens: 10 emcees you shouldnt sleep on after sxsw 2011

This was definitely a surprise. For those of you that know, SXSW is kinda like a perpetual orgasm for fans of live music. Attendance estimates are in the hundreds of thousands. So to be named as one of the “10 Emcees You Shouldn’t Sleep On After SXSW 2011″ by TheWellVersed is a serious honor. This year SXSW had more Hip-Hop than I’ve ever seen in the 3 years that I’ve been going down to Austin, so to be able to go down there and perform on stages like VIBE/AllHipHop, RubyHornet, OnSmash & Leaders of The New Cool is already a win, but to have someone recognize me in this way is some serious shit, and I promise to live up to it. Big shouts to Andreas Hale and the whole TWV staff, and to everyone else on the list, some of whom are homies of mine.
