last night w/heartsrevolution at Le Baron
Last night I had the absolute pleasure of rocking with heartsrevolution at Le Baron in Chinatown for SPIN & Absolut’s new ENCORE! series. The night was retardedly dope, and they KILLED! I’m sure the footage is gonna be popping up somewhere soon but until then here are a few of the flicks from last night courtesy of PaperMag.com

People’s Champion pt. 1 (Eli Porter Documentary)
I remember seeing the trailer for this months ago, and wanting to see it. Part I is finally here, a 33 minute look into the Iron Mic Battle viral phenomenon that introduced the world to Eli Porter a few years back. This was actually really well done, and I was even slightly surprised to see my homies Dallas Penn, Jay Smooth and Eric and Jeff from ItsTheReal providing commentary as well. If you watched the video, which millions of us have, then you owe it to yourself to check this out…
Chase Kennedy – Infinite Champion [Promo Video]
Most of you probably only know Chase Kennedy from being on stage with me at my shows. What you may not know is that the same summer that we dropped Off The Wall we also had a Gallery opening for Chase attended by everybody from Charles Hamilton to his CNN anchor mother. Chase has always been retardedly talented with the visual arts, but recently he’s also been working on other things behind the scenes including this promo video for himself and Y&I. Look forward for more of Chase’s art as well as music and whatever the fu*k else we end up releasing of his. I promise personally that you won’t be disappointed. #yandilife forever.
RubyHornet’s CS:ATX Documentary Part II
This had to be one of the more fun experiences that I’ve had in Austin in the 3 years that I’ve been going down for SXSW. Last year, RubyHornet.com (the good folks that brought you the #yandilife mixtape) rented a mansion in Austin and had all of their favorite artists come through and work on songs together. The result was an album full of collabs that might not otherwise happen since we’re all from different places around the country.
My session was dope, I went in there expecting to work on one track (“For No One” feat. Scheme) and right as I was about to leave, the LA homies El Prez, Shawn Chrystopher and D Nez walked in and told me they wanted me to lay something for the track they were working on (“This Is the Life”). I ended up with 2 records making the final cut of the album, which is a hell of a feeling. It’s always a good feeling to be included on projects like this, but it feels even better to be showcased on it. Shouts to Tony Shane on the Lenscraft…he’s the same Director that shot the “Wasting Another Day” video (which we shot during this past SXSW in Austin as well).
The documentary comes with the limited edition hard copy of the LP that we released with Decon, and we will now be presenting it online in four installments. Check out part 2 documenting Closed Sessions with Fashawn, Buff1, Scheme, Esso, Shawn Chrystopher, El Prez, Tony Baines, and more.

RIP Jonas Bevacqua (LRG co-founder)
Dude was only 34 years old…wow. RIP.
Sean Falyon x Fader: SFBE 2 Listening Party
Big congrats to the homie Sean Falyon on his listening party last night at the Fader offices. Some of you will remember Sean from “Future So Bright” off of The Anti Socialite. This is one dude who no matter when or where you see him you know he’s working.

ESSO x DopeFiles.com [Interview & Freestyle]
Big shouts to Latasha and Dopefiles.com for coming by the studio and chopping it up for a while. I’m not gonna lie, that whole “Off The Record” segment was actually supposed to be off the record, but fuck it…it’s my opinion, and you dont have to agree. The Freestyle is a freestyle in the purest definition of the word, meaning it’s whatever came to mind at that particular moment over the beat. #yandilife
Emilio Sparks ft. CurT@!n$- Change Gon’ Come (Music Video)
Brand new visuals directed by frequent Y&I collaborator Puma for Emilio Sparks upcoming Scumbino’s Way mixtape dropping real soon. I’m co-starring in the video as the Bomb Technician as well. Big shouts to Emilio, and make sure to look out for my contribution to Scumbino’s Way “My Theme Song” as well. Whatup Staten!
boardrooming w/@TheSourceMag & #yandilife + #sxsw
Aight I’ma get back to talking on here a little bit more. Today was a pretty damn good day. I’ve been recovering a little from coming back from 80 degree days in Austin to this bullshit weather that New York is blessing us with. Today I headed over to The Source’s offices downtown to meet the new staff and catch them up on what I’ve been working on. Funny thing is I knew a lot of their staff from other places that they had written over the years. They definitely welcomed the #yandilife with open arms and as an Unsigned Hype alumni I have to admit it felt pretty fuckin good. Now me and Puma are about to break that 7D in a little bit more for y’all these next few weeks so you can really see what this #yandilife of ours really looks like. And I’ve been kicking the idea of some remixes around lately too, so know that it’s only getting started. We’re about to open our doors to you, all we ask is your ears in return. Til then, hit the ump to check out my random blackberry photography from Austin this year as well…
“Y&I over any and all things/I’d bet on it in Vegas and win the whole thing.”
TWV presents: the tens: 10 emcees you shouldnt sleep on after sxsw 2011
This was definitely a surprise. For those of you that know, SXSW is kinda like a perpetual orgasm for fans of live music. Attendance estimates are in the hundreds of thousands. So to be named as one of the “10 Emcees You Shouldn’t Sleep On After SXSW 2011″ by TheWellVersed is a serious honor. This year SXSW had more Hip-Hop than I’ve ever seen in the 3 years that I’ve been going down to Austin, so to be able to go down there and perform on stages like VIBE/AllHipHop, RubyHornet, OnSmash & Leaders of The New Cool is already a win, but to have someone recognize me in this way is some serious shit, and I promise to live up to it. Big shouts to Andreas Hale and the whole TWV staff, and to everyone else on the list, some of whom are homies of mine.
An EPIC moment for New York
Like most New Yorkers, I grew up as a complete Knicks fan. Between Patrick Ewing, Kenny Walker, Gerald Wilkins, John Starks, Charles Oakley and all of the other great Knicks of the 80′s and 90′s, as Knicks fans we became spoiled. Well, let me go ahead and thank the Knicks for finally becoming watchable again by adding Amare, Carmelo and Chauncey in 2011.
Rena1ssance – I Know [MP3]
Rena1ssance has quietly been a big part of the musical background for Y&I Music over the last 2 years and is one of my go-to people for musical inspiration. One day we were in the studio working on #yandilife and Ascension and I played this instrumental and his whole mood changed. He literally started writing the song on the spot. As a Producer, believe me when I tell you that this dude is phenomenal, and he’s been starting to get some of the looks that he deserves like our “New York New York” record making the rotation on MTVJams.
Renny wanted to put this out as a Valentine’s Day gift from him to all of you for supporting his production. Look for Renny and I to collaborate on way more songwriting real soon.

Ruby Hornet “Closed Sessions” SXSW 2010 Edition [trailer]
CLOSED SESSIONS TEXAS (COMING MARCH, 2011)
Closed Sessions: Texas” is the second release from Chicago based indie label, Closed Sessions. The LP was recorded over the course of four days in Austin, Texas in March of 2010, as Closed Sessions setup a full recording studio inside of a Texas Landmark mansion. The album was created in a whirlwind of 24-hour sessions that featured artists from all over the country, and the album includes some of Hip Hop music’s rising stars as well as proven veterans. The full LP and accompanying documentary is set for an early spring 2011 release.
I have 2 tracks on the Album: “For No One” feat. Scheme (produced by Tony Baines) and “This is The Life” feat. El Prez & Shawn Chrystopher (produced by The Westhermen), so make sure you stay tuned for all the updates and pick up the album when it’s released.

As always big shouts to Shine & Holley Monelle for always supporting Y&I, and shoutouts to CreativeCrime for the footage. Had a great conversation at the studio with my guy Gutta aka Paul Bolton. Wait until you see what the homie has in store for 2011.

Jay-Z x Warren Buffet x Forbes Magazine
I just ran into this over the weekend and I felt like I needed to share it with the world. This is the type of thing that most people never really have access to. For those of you who dont know who Warren Buffet is, just Google him and that’s more than enough to understand the impact of Jay-Z sitting down with him and Forbes Magazine to pick brains.
I understand that it’s a 52 minute video…but if you can’t take an hour out of your life to watch something as inspiring as this, then really how serious are you about success?

TI – Get Back Up [VIDEO]
For those of you that know me, you know that I’ve been a fan of TI since I’m Serious came out back in 2001. So it’s pretty crazy to me still that I had the opportunity to be a part of the video for one of the singles from his new album No Mercy. It premiered today on MTV’s The Seven and it’ll probably be on a screen near you sooner than later…now if I could just get him on a song…
ATL/A3C Photo Journal
So here’s the 3rd installment of my Photo Journal series that started with Lexington, KY back in August. September was LA, and now October brings Atlanta and Philly next Tuesday. This week Puma has contributed some of his own Blackberry photography to the mix. I’ll concede that he”s nicer with the 7D, but I think my Blackberry photography might have an edge hahaha. Hope y’all enjoy. Look out for the footage that Puma shot of my show at A3c on The Smoking Section/Perfect Attendance stage coming in the next few days

ESSO x NBA2K11
So this right here maybe be one of the coolest things that’s happened thus far in my career. The good folks at 2K Sports reached out and asked if I wanted to be a playable character in NBA2k11 this year. Obviously as soon as they asked I said HELL YEA and they made it happen. This was before we even found out that Michael Jordan was going to be on the cover. So, now I can say that I’m in one of the biggest game franchises on the planet, in the year where they did the unthinkable and had Michael Jordan on the cover. And if I’m correct, MJ hasn’t been in a video game since Jordan vs. Bird (but I could be wrong) Maybe next year they’ll get the tattoos in there hahaha!
